MAY 2009 - GLOBAL TEMPLATE FOR CASSIS (see notes below)
Notes on the new CASSIS template: 38002 missing from CASSIS database hence not in template. 32003 missing from CASSIS but identical to 32504 except the intensities are in standard units. 32504 is hence used in the template.
What this template should contain: All species known in the ISM/CSM and all isotopomers and excited states (vibrations, torsions) found in CDMS/JPL regardless of whether detected or not. Recommended database.
What this template doesn't contain: Databases other than JPL/CDMS. Interesting candidate species not yet identified. Vastel ortho/para found in CASSIS. Correct source dependant parameters.
This should be seen as a default template from which you can create your own subsets. This is still a working version and not guaranteed error free. Any feedback is most welcomed.
Some more information about templates:
A source template gives the list of the most important molecular species in a given object. It may also give default parameters for the model chosen (eg. LTE: excitation temperature, column density, object size, velocity offset and velocity disperison).
When using CASSIS software if you have selected <full database> in the
<template> pull-down menu you will see all molecules presently available.
The data is taken from the CDMS and JPL catalogues with a few corrections in
order that it all be in the same format. Other templates are available. For
example you can choose to work only with the JPL or with the CDMS database.
You can find here a TABLE that (we hope) gives a full list of all identified ISM/CSM species and the isotopologs and vibrational states for which laboratory data is available. This can be used as the basis for making source templates. For each species only one preferred database is cited. The criteria for chosing a particular database are given in the table - broadly year of entry, year of last measurment, precision and scope of the data.
From the above table we make available for CASSIS 2.0 a GLOBAL ISM/CSM template (WALTERS-LATTANZI).
Notes:
(1) The template is meant to be used with CASSIS by means of the read template
button.
(2) This template is only used to list the molecules. Parameters are arbitrary.
(3) This is only a suggested template. You are of course free to make your own
choice. Also it's a beta version and is not guaranteed to be perfect - please
give feedback of any corrections, or suggestions.
You can also make your own templates .
It is later hoped to provide custom templates for different object types. These
templates will give the principal species and may also give starting values
of some parameters.
We hope that CASSIS users will provide some of their own templates as standard
templates for other CASSIS users - credit will be given - please contact a member
of the CASSIS team if you would be willing to do this.
